Staff, VIP Groups and Permissions

In-game staff

Staff & VIP groups > Staff gives owner, moderator or skip-queue on one, some or every server, with an optional end. Servycore applies it over RCON, retries on servers that were offline, and removes it at the end.

Rust keeps one role per player on a server. When a player gets several roles (for example moderator for good and owner for an event), the server gets the highest one; the other shows Waiting on and takes over when the higher one ends. When an owner role ends on an Oxide or Carbon server, Servycore also removes the player from the admin group (Oxide adds owners to it and never removes them), unless you gave them that group in Groups & VIP.

Every server really means every server, including the ones you add later: within a minute of a new server joining the Control Center (or getting its RCON password, or being turned back on), Servycore gives it every staff role and group that was given on every server, and writes it in the activity log.

Groups with an end date (VIP)

Groups & VIP gives an Oxide or Carbon group (for example vip) for a while or for good. Pick a group from the list of groups that exist on your servers, or type a new one. If the group is missing on a server, a create it link creates it. Giving the same group again extends it.

On Carbon, a player can only be added to a group once they have joined that server at least once. Until then the grant shows Waiting for the player to join this server once, and Servycore gives the group the moment they connect.

Discord role of a group

Under the groups list, Discord roles gives a Discord role with a group (for example vip → your VIP role). Players who linked their Discord account get the role while they have the group, whoever gave it (your staff, an automation, a vote reward), and lose it when the group ends. A role shared by several groups stays while one of them is active, and roles you gave by hand on Discord are never removed. Your Discord server must be connected (Providers → Discord) with the Servycore bot in it, and the bot's role must be above these roles. To copy a role ID, turn on Discord's developer mode, then right click the role → Copy role ID.

Groups and permissions

On a server's Plugins page, open Groups & permissions:

  • see each group, its players and its permissions;
  • grant a permission (the list shows every permission your plugins registered) or revoke it;
  • create or delete a group (default and admin are kept);
  • tick Apply the changes to every Oxide / Carbon server to do it on the whole network at once.
